Bob Fraser, Chester antiques dealer, long-time teacher

Chester resident George Robert Fraser, 83, died on June 22, 2015 due to mesothelioma.  He was born Oct. 1, 1931 in Amherst, N.H., the son of Annie (Bray) and Daniel Joseph Fraser, graduated from Milford High School and entered the Navy, achieving the rank of Machinist Mate 2nd class.

In 1954, Mr. Fraser married Mary Drew.  After graduation from Keene State Teachers College, he taught Industrial Arts in Hollis, N.H., and at Riverside Junior High in Springfield.

Mr. Fraser, known as Bob to all, ran a successful antiques business with his wife. Together they managed antiques shows and restored houses as well as an 1840s barn in Chester, Vt. Mr. Fraser was an avid hunter and fisherman and a prolific gardener.

Mr. Fraser is survived by Mary, his wife of 61 years, children Lissa Fraser Fernandez and husband David, Stephen Fraser and wife Anita , Donna Fraser-Leary and husband Dean, Kate Fraser  and a Swiss AFS daughter Sandra Fankhauser Azam.  He is also survived by brother Daniel and his wife Margaret, Richard and his wife Karen and his sister Nancy Fraser. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Nathan and his wife Angela, Alex and his partner Brittany, Ben, Leon and his partner Lauren, and Robyn, and three great grandchildren: Kelsie, Kya and Skye Fraser.  He was predeceased by his parents and a grandson Jason Fraser.
