Voter registration deadline nears; early voting still an option

Election 2016 logoQualified Vermonters will have until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 to register either by mail, in their town clerk’s office, or online at https://olvr.sec.state.vt.us/

Registered voters can also request an early or absentee ballot if they are unable to make it to the polls on Aug. 9. Simply go to your town clerk’s office to vote early, call your town clerk to request a ballot, or request a ballot online at https://www.mvp.sec.state.vt.us/

“Many Vermonters have already utilized early voting,” states Secretary of State Jim Condos. “This election, 14,489 voters have requested an absentee ballot and 6,850 of those have been returned. These numbers exemplify how beneficial early voting programs are for ensuring busy Vermonters get their voices heard in the election.”

Voter registration applications must be submitted or postmarked no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3.  Absentee ballots must be requested by Monday, Aug. 8 and returned to your town/city clerk by 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9.
