The Humane Society is looking for eager walkers of all ages to collect pledges and bring their leashed tail-wagging companions to take a healthy walk to help save animals. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at Riverside Middle School, on the Chester-Springfield Road, and the walk-a-thon kicks off at 10 a.m. The first 20 people registering with $50 or more in sponsorships will receive special T-shirts.

The event will be held rain or shine. Pledge sheets can be downloaded here. You can also pick one up at the Humane Society at 401 Skitchewaug Trail. No donation is too small when it comes to helping our homeless companion friends who cannot help themselves. For more information call Springfield Humane Society at 885-3997.
