GM Honor Society inducts 10 new members

The Flamstead Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 10 new members in a ceremony and celebration on Thursday, April 24 at Green Mountain Union High School in Chester.

The 93-year-old National Honor Society, with chapters in all 50 states, honors students who have “demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character,” according to its website. The honor is open to all sophomores and juniors with a cumulative grade point average of 4.0. Those students are asked to apply by filling out an application for that includes letters of recommendation and a resume.

The induction was preceded by speeches from school advisor and guidance counselor Ally Oswald as well as NHS President Emily Comstock and other members of the board as well as GMUHS Principal Tom Ferenc. Each new member was presented with a yellow rose, which the member then presented to a parent or guardian.

The new members include Lilith Dyke Gragg and Samantha Wood, both in the Class of 2015, and Sarah Baker, Kyle Cyr, Rylee Ewald, Robert Haseltine, Sarah Martel, Heather Morse, Hannah Sheere and Kaitlin Wells, all of the Class of 2016.
