Chester Alumni Weekend events June 6-June 8

Chester High School and Green Mountain Union High School will hold its annual alumni association weekend Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8 at various locations around Chester. On Friday, June 6 will be the annual banquet annual evening bash at the American Legion featuring music and dancing; a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning, June 7,  at Fullerton Inn, the annual parade and motorcycle ride; followed by the Sunday, June 8 golf tournament.

Friday, June 6:

  • Alumni Bash at the American Legion Hall, 637 Vermont Route 103 South in Chester. Music and dancing.  No time given for doors to open.

Saturday, June 7:

  • Alumni Weekend Rotary Pancake Breakfast at the Fullerton Inn, 40 The Common, Chester between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.
  • Green Mountain Union High School and Chester High Alumni Weekend Annual Parade with this year’s theme: Commercials. Parade line up will begin at 10 a.m. on Elm Street and step off at 11 a.m. concluding in Cobleigh Field, off Cobleigh Street. All floats must be at Cobleigh to be considered for award and cash prizes. Register floats prior to the parade. If your class would like to register a float call Karl at 802-380-4439 or Jon at 802-353-6043. There are rules for having a float in the parade and each float is inspected prior to stepping off for specifics. If you don’t have a fire extinguisher you can’t participate, for safety reasons. Rules are listed on the alumni website.
  • Alumni Motorcycle Ride meets at 12:30 p.m. in the Chester Andover Elementary School parking lot for a two-hour scenic ride. Contact Bob Greenier at 802-423-329-8463 or Mike Dwinell at 802-299-6888 to join the group or just show up on Saturday.
  • Alumni Banquet. This year’s banquet will kick off at 5 p.m. with cocktail hour, appetizers and a cash bar at the American Legion, 637 Vermont Route 103 South in Chester. At 6 p.m. the business meeting will begin as will dinner service, followed by music and dancing. There will be a few brief speeches. The 50/50 raffle ticket winner will be announced at the banquet, as well as the winners of the Alumni Association Scholarships, float prizes and the first inductees into the Wall of Honor. Attendance is limited to 200 people; admission is $20.

Sunday, June 8:

  • Alumni Golf Tournament at Tater Hill Golf Course on Popple Dungeon Road in Windham. Teams of four will play a scrabble format. Attendees are encouraged to enter into the Hole-in-One contest to try to win a fabulous prize. To register a team, contact Greg Harrington at gharrington59@hotmail.com. Registration ends Saturday, June 7. Fee is $75 per player and includes greens fee, cart, goody bag and lunch.
