Information meeting on classical education for home schooling
The Chester Telegraph | Jul 14, 2014 | Comments 0
Ruth Holleran will be presenting information on an alternative education program for those who want to home school or want to change up what they do at home. It is classical education for modern times. Classical Conversations is a home-centered education program.
Families meet one day a week for a community day, and work at home the rest of the week. This provides a congenial community for instruction, encouragement and accountability. Classical education builds on the natural growth of children. In the early years (5-10) students memorize facts, learn to recite a timeline with 160 items, participate in science, art, and music activities, and make a weekly three-minute presentations.
The information meeting is set for 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday July 25 at Whiting Library, 117 Main St. in Chester. This free event is open to all.
