Weston Playhouse names Bonanno development director

Charma Bonanno

Weston Playhouse Theatre Company announces that Weston resident and theater company alumna Charma Bonanno has joined its year-round staff as director of development.

Bonanno will be responsible for planning and overseeing the theater company’s fundraising efforts for its annual productions, education and New Works programs and the current capital campaign for the new Walker Farm theater site.

She will report to the managing director and work closely with members of the board and the development committee. Bonanno will also serve as the main liaison with donors, grantors and sponsors.

Bonanno  has enjoyed a successful performing career in theaters in Chicago, New York  and touring around the country. She has performed at the Weston Playhouse in such roles as Velma in Chicago and Lucy Brown in The Threepenny Opera. After the birth of her son, Angelo, Bonanno pursued her other passion — for small business. She was notably the financial manager at a New York legal staffing firm, Lexolution, for nine years, and most recently a human resources specialist at Commonwealth Dairy in Brattleboro.

No stranger to development, Bonanno helped to design and execute Weston galas in Vermont and New York and is a member of the certified fund raising executive credential program at The Fund Raising School of Indiana University.

Bonanno is married to Weston actor David Bonanno, and is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music.

She can be reached at cbonanno@westonplayhouse.org or at 802-824-8167 x108.
