Seven join Green Mountain Union High staff

Chapman also teaches at Castleton State College and serves as the office director for Vermont Geographic Alliance.  As a reference librarian, she hopes to introduce geographic information systems to students and faculty alike.

Houk is a Pennsylvania native who earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Arts & Architecture at Pennsylvania State University and master’s degrees from the College of Design, North Carolina State University and the School of Education, Western New Mexico University. Morton comes from the Compass School in Rockingham where she was the business manager for the past 10 years. In her spare time, Morton enjoys traveling, hiking in the mountains, photography, meditation and yoga.

Parker, a Chester native and 2002 GMUHS grad, came to GMUHS from the Vermont Virtual Learning Cooperative in Springfield. Parker brings with her creative energy and administrative skills.

Rickles has taught for the past seven years at Waltham High School in Waltham, MA, where he also coached lacrosse and ran the Freshman Mentor Program. Rickles enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding and reading.

Slobodnjak, who holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health, has been working in education since 2000, most recently in special education with Essential Early Education in Springfield. She enjoys being outdoors with her husband and children.

VanAlstyne returns to Green Mountain Union High School and her hometown after several years at the Compass School  as special educator and director of Student Support Services.  VanAlstyne, who has 15 years of educational experience, holds a bachelor’s in Organizational Leadership from the College of Saint Joseph’s and a master of education from Southern New Hampshire University.
