St. Luke’s 4th annual Lego contest on the horizon

The 2015 LEGO Contest will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 at the NewsBank Conference Center, 352 Main St., Chester. The church sponsored event is open to the public. A portion of the proceeds raised will benefit Whiting Library’s Children’s Room.

LEGOmaniacs Pre-K through Grade 8 and families are invited to enter and display their original creations (no kits are allowed).

Entries should be constructed at home, brought to the NewsBank Conference Center between 9 to 10 a.m., and set up within an 18 inches x 30 inches space. Entries will be judged in different grade categories for their originality, imagination and presentation.

For team entries, the age of the oldest member will determine the grade category. There is also a separate family team class for adults and children who have collaborated. The judges speak with every entrant to make sure they understand each entry’s theme and details before they write comments on an entry card.

LEGO prizes will be awarded to winners and runners-up in the grade and family team divisions, with special awards for the Judges’ Choice for Best in Show and Most Vermont creations. A new award, the Creators’ Choice, will recognize the construction the entrants themselves vote as their most favorites.

Refreshments will be for sale. Attendees are encouraged to stay and enjoy the displays.

Pre-registration forms and a fee of $10 must be received by March 16 to be assured of a space. Entry forms may be downloaded from here at www.chestertelegraph.org or www.ourchester.org and Special Events at www.stlukesepiscopalvt.org.

Printed forms are available at the Whiting Library at 117 Main St. and Chester-Andover Elementary School at 72 Main St. in Chester.

Checks for the pre-registration fee of $10 per entry should be made out to “St. Luke’s Church” and mailed, along with the registration form, to the Registrar, Lillian Willis, P.O. Box 318, Chester, VT 05143.

Entries after March 16 and on the day of the contest will be $15, if there is space; but to avoid disappointment, pre-registration is strongly encouraged. For additional information, call Lillian Willis at 802-875-1340.
