The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company is offering two fun theater opportunities for students this summer.
Weston’s Student Ambassador Program provides 15 students with free admission to all seven summer shows, and an opportunity to discover how professional productions go from planning to stage.
Backstage tours, first read-throughs, tech rehearsals, actor/director talkbacks and more are part of the Student Ambassador experience.
Local students may apply with a brief essay and application, available on the Weston website. Not only will participants enjoy the performances and insider events, they will serve as emissaries underscoring the value of theater by sharing their experiences with friends, neighbors and social networks. Enrollment is extended to Monday, June 1.
Broadway Bootcamp is a three-week summer intensive program for secondary students and graduating seniors that runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3 through Friday, Aug 21.
Cost is $750 plus a $50 materials fee and includes more than 80 hours of theater instruction, a T-shirt, two guest tickets to the 4 p.m. Aug. 21 student performance plus two tickets to that evening’s professional performance of the musical Guys and Dolls.
Students will work on material from the musical with choreographer Michael Raine, music director Larry Pressgrove, Weston director Tim Fort and Burr & Burton Academy drama and dance director Jim Raposa. The three-week intensive at Burr & Burton’s facilities in Manchester culminates in the Aug. 21 student performance on the Weston stage.
Enrollment ends Monday, June 15. Bootcamp is produced in collaboration with Burr and Burton Academy’s Creative Arts Department.
