The West River Farmers Market, at Routes 11 and 100 in Londonderry is in full swing and celebrating its 23rd year.
More than 40 vendors — farmers, crafters and artisans, and food producers — are selling fruits, vegetables, meats, artisan wares, maple syrup, cheese and delicious prepared foods including fresh-squeezed made-to-order lemonade and limeade. The market is held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through Columbus Day weekend, Saturday, Oct. 10.
Live music almost every weekend and a family atmosphere make it a wonderful place to spend a long morning.
The market also accepts EBT and debit card transactions, as well as Farm to Family and Cash Crop coupons.
Formerly called “Harvest Health,” Cash Crop is a double-value incentive program promoting the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables; the over 85,000 Vermonters currently receiving 3SquaresVT funds can benefit from the program by using their monthly food assistance dollars at farmers markets.
The Farm To Family program is another statewide initiative that gives lower-income Vermonters coupons redeemable for fresh produce.
