Two local businesses have raised funds for cancer awareness and research in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Lori Brown, owner of Boccaccio’s Hair Salon, 113 Clinton St. in Springfield, came to Springfield Hospital and put pink in everyone’s hair for a $10 donation, returning all the donations to the Springfield Hospital to support the Oncology Department.

She has been presenting the hospital with the proceeds from this Pink campaign for 10 years.

Brown will continue to put pink hair extensions into people’s hair throughout the month of October. For more information, call 802-885-6265.

On Thursday, Oct. 22, Lisai’s Chester Market, on Depot Street in Chester, sold made-to-order sandwiches plus water and chips for a suggested $5 donation to the Breast Cancer and Awareness Research fund.

Lisai’s employees made about 250 bulkies for the cause, resulting in nearly $1,400 being raised for breast cancer research.
