For the second year, South Londonderry’s Champion Fire Company teamed up with the nearby First Baptist Church to put on an all-encompassing Halloween gala for kids and adults alike. The church sponsored the trunk-or-treat, getting more than 20 cars to line Thompsonburg Road between the firehouse and Route 100, an area that the Fire Department closed off, then illuminated with tower lights.

And the firehouse held its 7th annual Haunted Firehouse, which not only included spooky goings-on on the second floor, but made to order hamburgers, cold drinks and a table filled with scrumptious desserts, as well as a fire pit to help take the chill off.
Melvin Twitchell said that last year the Haunted Firehouse attracted about 100 kids, a number that was expected to double by the end of Saturday evening.
In Chester, one and a half bays of the firehouse were cleared out to make way for a table offering warm drinks and treats such as a candy filled a hanging rescue basket. Tours were given of the fire engines and pumpers, which stood at attention outside the firehouse. Fire Chief Matt Wilson said a steady stream of trick-or-treaters came for the annual visit.
