Green Mountain Union High School  will be entering two teams in this year’s Iron Chef Jr. competition: one from middle and one from high school.

The teams are already working in the kitchen once a week searching for the perfect recipe to enter into the competition in March 2016.

The middle school team consists of Ange Wunderle, Laurel King, Rileigh Thomas and Gwen Kekic, working with coaches Jana Bryan and Carrie King. Last year’s middle school team won mis en place in the afternoon competition.

The high school team consists of veterans from last year. Team members are Chelsea Rose, Alexandria Pippin, Caitlin McCoy and Simone Martorano. Coaching them is Christine Anderson, who recently competed for a spot in Master Chef.

The mission of Iron Chef Jr. VT is to empower Vermont students to develop healthy eating habits through the use of whole local foods. Teams from more than 55 schools develop recipes, learn basic cooking techniques and explore new foods.
