Vermont State Police are looking for a tan Volkswagen Jetta involved in an armed robbery at the Cavendish General Store this morning.
At about 11:40 a.m., a white male approximately 5-foot-10 with a medium build held a knife to the cash register attendant at the store, demanding money.
The cashier was unable to open the drawer. A second store employee appeared and struggled with the robber, striking him with a machete.
The robber was able to take the register and flee, but dropped it in the parking lot. He was seen leaving the store parking lot in the tan 2005 Jetta bearing Vermont license plates GGD 960.
Neither store employee was injured during the incident and it is believed that the robber was not significantly injured. The robber was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, winter coat (possibly blue and white), and a black baseball cap.
Police searched the surrounding area but have not located the car.
Video surveillance from the store was not available at the time of this report. Police are asking that anyone with information about the robbery to contact the VSP Rockingham Barracks at 802-875-2112.
