Southern Pie Company holds Grand Opening on Saturday
The Chester Telegraph | Feb 08, 2016 | Comments 1
From 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, owners Scott and Leslie Blair will have a plated pie tasting and coffee sample event.
Plates of Leslie Blair’s homemade pies will sell for $5 each, with all proceeds going to the Chester Recreation Dept. Coffee is provided by Pierce Brothers Coffee Roasters.
The Blairs make and sell whole pies as well as slices. Their offerings are savory and sweet and they also make quiches, coffee cakes and cupcakes. Coffee and cold drinks are also available at the cafe. Leslie is a native South Carolinian who moved to Vermont four years ago, bringing her best southern recipes north. According to the Blairs, Scott tasted one pie, and The Southern Pie Company was born.
The Blairs vend at the West River Farmers Market in Londonderry and have also participated in Okemo Mountain’s Hops in the Hills, the Vermont Golden Honey Festival and Thanksgiving in Manchester.
The Blairs said they opened the storefront because, “We wanted a place to have a slice of pie, a cup of coffee and a chat with your neighbor, with a sprinkling of southern charm.”
The cafe and shop is opened Tuesday through Sunday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
