To the editor: Vote yes on GMUHS, CAES and RVTC budgets
The Chester Telegraph | Feb 23, 2016 | Comments 0
The Green Mountain Union High School Board respectfully requests your support of the FY 2016-17 proposed budget on Town Meeting Day.
The budget represents an increase in the amount to be raised by taxes of 2.1 percent, largely based on personnel costs and a decrease in state revenues.
Our actual budgeted expenditures to operate the school are up less than 1 percent. Our estimated education spending per pupil continues to be below the state average. The tax rates for all three of our sending towns are estimated to decline this year, largely based on the impact of the Common Level of Appraisal.
We are proud to have such a great resource for the members of our collective communities and we appreciate your support in helping us maintain it. We remain committed to maintaining a learning environment that supports our students and continues to attract tuition students. The more students we have in our schools, the lower your tax rate.
Please support our community and students by voting YES on the Green Mountain Union High School, Chester Andover Elementary School and River Valley Technical Center budgets. Thank you.
Respectfully submitted,
Alison DesLauriers
GMUHS Board chair
