Telegraph logoThe Chester Telegraph has been named a paper of record for the towns of Weston and Grafton and for the school districts of Green Mountain Union High School and Chester Andover Elementary School.

In an effort to get the word out to more people, The Telegraph has created posters and placed them in strategic areas throughout those communities.

It has also applied to be the paper of record for Chester and Andover.

A paper of record is the official place that municipalities and government entities place public notices that are required by law. These notices  include warnings, meeting or hearing notices, elections and tax sales.

Vermont law provides that every year select boards and school boards will designate a newspaper to run the notices. Now in its fifth year, The Telegraph covers the towns of Chester, Grafton, Andover, Weston and Londonderry and surrounding communities.

Voices of Rockingham to meet as planned

The community group Voices of Rockingham will meet as planned at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 31 at the Windham Antiques Center on the Square in Bellows Falls.

Despite the withdrawal of the Winham County Sheriff Department’s proposal for siting the Southern Vermont Detention Center in Rockingham, organizers will continue hosting community forums for citizens to discuss issues that face their town.

Thursday’s agenda will include a discussion of the zoning hearing that will take place on Tuesday, April 5. A citizen petition to amend the town’s bylaws seeks to expand the existing requirement that any use in the Riverfront 14 District be compatible with the recreational potential of riverfront property. Other items to be discussed are: proposed Bellows Falls/Rockingham merger; development in Rockingham/BF-ideas and visions and plans to bring this to Town Development office.

All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Congratulations on being a website “paper” of record! Just shows there’s a little more to you than what some (very small amount – actually one person) thinks!
