Vermont State Police Log for April: Feb. 2- March 31, 2016

Tuesday, Feb. 2, Londonderry — A caretaker reported that someone had broken into a barn in the Landgrove Road area, damaging the door and a snowmobile. According to police, there was no theft

Thursday, Feb. 4, Cavendish — Vermont State Police received a report that tools were stolen from a Davidson Hill Builders job site on Twenty Mile Stream Road in Cavendish. Among the tools stolen are a Makita 16-inch beam saw, DeWalt drills, a Bostitch nailer, a DeWalt chopsaw and a DeWalt radio. The property was recovered later that day in Springfield.

Friday, Feb. 5, Londonderry — A license was reported stolen from a business on Smith Haven Road.

Tuesday, Feb. 9, Baltimore — Police investigated a report of fraud that turned out to be a family dispute. No charges were brought.

Sunday, Feb. 14, Cavendish —  A Chester woman driving on Route 103 in Cavendish just before 1 a.m. swerved to avoid hitting a deer leaving the roadway and rolled her car at least once before it came to rest rightside up. The woman was uninjured and was able to get out of the car on her own through the rear window.

Tuesday, Feb. 16, Rockingham — A business on Lower Bartonsville Road reported that it had received a bad check.

Tuesday, Feb. 16, Weston —  State Police investigated the theft of a debit card and its subsequent use to make fraudulent purchases at the Vermont Country Store on Main Street in Weston.

Friday,  March 4, Grafton — A Chester Road resident reported that an anti-wind development sign had been removed from the front yard of his home.

Saturday, March 5, Cavendish — Police responded to a report of a family fight on High Street.

Monday, March 7, Cavendish — A High Street resident reported that a family member had taken a vehicle without permission. This case remains active.

Tuesday, March 8, Londonderry — A threatening message was received by a Lowell Lake Road resident who reported it to police to put it on the record.

Thursday, March 10, Cavendish — Tools stolen from a shed that had been broken into in the Heald Road area. On investigation, police learned that some “air tools and a jigsaw” had been taken by a nephew who said he would bring them back when he was finished using them.

Friday, March 11, Baltimore — A landowner in the Harris Road area complained that two vehicles had driven onto a field and torn it up.

Saturday, March 12, Grafton — A resident reported that a neighbor’s property had been vandalized. Troopers learned that packages left at the house while the resident was away had been opened and items had been smashed and left in the tennis court.

Saturday, March 12, Ludlow — A 53-year-old Fairfield, Ct., man who was stopped by State Police was found to be driving under the influence. Because he had two children – ages 7 and 8 – in the car with him, he was charged with Cruelty to a Child as well as DUI.

Thursday, March 17, Chester — State Police received a complaint about a truck driving north on Route 103 near Route 10 that was swerving around the road. A trooper followed the truck and did not see any swerving.

Saturday, March 19, Londonderry — Police received a report of vandalism at Memorial Park. According to the report, two signs in the park were pulled down.

Monday, March 21, Londonderry — A resident of Barker Road reported that his mailbox had been vandalized.

Wednesday, March 30, Cavendish — A person was reported missing from a residential treatment center, but the complaint was resolved when the person’s family learned that the person was en route to Oregon.

Thursday, March 31, Peru — A 46-year-old Peru man was arrested for assault,  trespass, unlawful mischief and disorderly conduct when police say he entered a house on Route 11 in Peru, threatened one occupant, pushed another and refused to leave the house. The man was found in the house by Troopers and taken to the Rockingham Barracks for processing.
