Okemo chamber introduces new board members;
Businesses pitch in to Green Up Springfield

The Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce introduced new board members at its annual luncheon meeting on Wednesday, May 18, held at Coleman Brook Tavern in Ludlow.

Departing board members include Julie Bowyer of CTM and Doug Ficken of Clear Lake Furniture, both in Ludlow; Barb LeMire of People’s Bank; and Sheldon Ghetler of Stonehearth Inn and Tavern; Rick Paterno of the Free Range Restaurant and past chamber President Dan Cote of Inn Victoria, all of Chester. New officers will be elected at the chamber’s Monday, June 13 meeting.

New board members are Joe Evans of Table 19 in Proctorsville; Gail Graves of Engel & Volkers and Justin Hyjek of Homestyle Hostel, both of Ludlow; Tom Gianola of Echo Lake Inn in Plymouth; and Scott Blair of Southern Pie Company and Kevin Theissen of Skygate Financial, both of Chester.

Continuing on their second two-year terms are Katelyn Sirois of Berkshire Bank and Steve Mulcahy of Okemo Mountain Resort, both in Ludlow; William Jenney of the President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site in Plymouth; and Kevin Marvelli of the Vermont Country Store in Weston;

Speaking at the meeting were Steve Cook, deputy commissioner of the Department of Tourism & Marketing and publisher of Vermont Life Magazine, Ken Jones, economic research analyst at the Agency of Commerce and Community Development; and Jeffrey Lewis, who is working for the Vermont Chamber Foundation on the Vermont Futures Project. The annual meeting will be available on lpctv.org within a few weeks.

Businesses, organizations Green Up Springfield

The Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce was joined by more than 175 community members on Saturday, May 7 to Green Up Springfield and surrounding areas. The chamber distributed more  than 400 bags for trash pickup.

Among those participating were HCRS, Springfield Rotary Club, Springfield On the Move, Turning Points, Springfield Democrats, Claremont Savings Bank, Springfield Lions Club, Union Park Neighborhood Association, Springfield Garden Club, Project ACTION and area churches. Community volunteers and the chamber spent the morning spreading mulch and raking the grass in front of Peoples Bank and Springfield Cinemas 3.

Woodbury Florist for delivered the mulch, VTel sponsored the purchase and Jake’s South Street Market donated the hot dogs. Town of Springfield employees for picking up all the bags.
