The Chester Select Board will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at which Garrett Baxter of the Vermont League of Cities and Towns will give a presentation on Vermont’s Open Meetings Law. The law is a meant to guarantee that the public’s business is done in public but it is often misinterpreted and sometimes ignored by public bodies. This session will outline the requirements of the law and give a better understanding of the limited circumstances under which a meeting may be held behind closed doors. This meeting is, of course, open to the public and will be held at Chester Town Hall, 556 Elm Street.
