To the editor: Black River Rugby season about to begin
The Chester Telegraph | Aug 31, 2016 | Comments 2
Summer is winding down and fall is fast approaching, and with it comes the 2016 fall season for the Black River Rugby Club. Black River is a Division 4 Men’s Team in the New England Rugby Football Union.
Again this year, Black River Rugby would like to thank Mark Verespy and The Killarney Irish Pub in Ludlow for its sponsorship. The team is proud to be so closely connected to Killarney and Mark. It is so much more than a sponsorship and “home-bar.”
This has been a big summer for rugby, with its return to the Summer Olympic Games for the first time since 1924. If you are intrigued by what you saw, you can come out and give it a try.
Practices are held every Thursday at 5 p.m. at Fletcher Farm Field on 103 in Ludlow. Our club is one of only five men’s clubs in the State of Vermont, and is seeking men, age 18 and up, who want to learn about the game, have experience, meet new people or just be more active. Experience is not required. Black River players are at all levels of play and are always happy to teach the game to those interested in learning.
If spectating more the sport for you, the team welcomes fans to their games to cheer them on and learn more about the sport.
The first Black River Rugby game of the season will be against Bennington Battle Rugby in Bennington on Saturday September 3rd. The team’s first home game of the season will take place on Saturday September 17th at 1 p.m. at Fletcher Farm Field, against the Boston Ironsides.
