Been wondering what’s up with the sounds of high-performance jet aircraft in the sky the past few days? We called around and found that it’s the 104th Fighter Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard.

According their media advisory, the Guard is conducting routine training over Southern Vermont to the New Hampshire border.

The F-15 Eagles, which fly out of Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield, Mass. are training for periods of up to an hour in the late morning and early afternoon from Sept. 26 through Sept. 30. During their training flights, the planes will be flown at altitudes above 10,000 feet and will practice fighter maneuvering.

The media advisory describes the flights as practicing “critical homeland defense and war-time tasking skills to defend our nation against terrorist threat and overseas conflicts.”

I was able to see them the other day it was extraordinary. I was suprised how loud they were considering how far away from me they were. Unreal technology. I wonder what the cost per hour is to fly those babies.
