Police log March 14 to May 6, 2013

Thursday, March 14, 9:49 a.m.

A woman was charged with petit larceny from a cash register at the Sunoco on Main Street.

Sunday, March 31, 1:43 p.m.

A resident of the Trebo Road area complained to police that a man had blocked the road and threatened her son. The son said he was driving up the dirt road at about 10 mph, listening to loud music when he looked in his rear view mirror and saw a vehicle speeding up behind him. The driver then passed, pulled in front of him and stopped the vehicle so that it was sideways, the son told police. According to the police report, the man exited the vehicle, walked toward the son’s car and began yelling at him for playing the music loudly, at one point saying, “Don’t play your music loud past my house again.” The son told police that he repeatedly asked the man to move the vehicle and remove his hands from his car so that he could go home. The son did take three pictures of the blocking vehicle and the man. When the son returned home, he told his mother about the incident. The two came to the Police Department to report the incident. The man and his wife also came to the Police Department. The man said that he and his wife were at the edge of the road fixing their mailbox when the son drove by playing loud music and almost hit them. He said he had to grab his wife to prevent her from getting hit. He added that the driver was traveling at 4 to 5 mph and was probably drunk or high. He also said the son was driving on the opposite side of the road and ran a neighbor off the road. The man said when he approached the son, he could smell marijuana and booze.  The neighbor who supposedly was driven off the road told officers she had “no idea what he was talking  about and was not even in town” at the time of the incident. The man was charged with careless and negligent reckless driving and disorderly conduct.

Friday, April 5, 12:58 p.m.

A Chester police officer pulled over a car on Route 11, east of Chester, that had a “loud defective exhaust.” The driver was found to be under criminal suspension of his license. The driver said he was headed to his first CRASH course, required of those whose license has been suspended for alcohol-related charges, and had no other way to get to class. He was cited to appear in District Court to answer the charge of driving with a suspended license.

Saturday, April 6, 11:12 p.m.

A man was charged with disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment after Chester police interviewed a woman at the parking lot of the Baba a Louis Bakery on Route 11 West. According to police, when they arrived, the complainant was sobbing in the front seat of her vehicle with her three little children in the rear. Police say the woman told them that she and her ex were arguing while returning from the McDonald’s in Springfield, where the ex apparently threw soda in her face. According to police, the woman said that as she drove to Chester, at about 50 mph, the ex pulled the keys from the ignition, shutting off the brakes and steering. The woman said she was able to steer the car safely to the breakdown lane. The man returned the keys to the woman, who then drove to the parking lot in Chester, where the  ex exited the car and started walking toward Londonderry. Police arrested the man on Route 11 West.

Sunday, April 7, 11:44 p.m.

A woman in her pajamas was spotted sitting on the steps of Cummings Hardware. She said that she had been in a nearby residence when the friend she was visiting had argued with the friend’s boyfriend regarding fidelity issues and punched him in the face. After speaking with the boyfriend and girlfriend, the girlfriend went to the Police Department the next day, where she was cited for domestic assault.

Monday, May 6, 2:16 p.m.

A pickup truck on Green Mountain Turnpike backed into a van, damaging the front grill and bumper of the van.
