Vermont Law School offers environmental advocacy, hacktivist programs

Two new Vermont Law School summer programs, one in environmental advocacy and one in legal technology, are open to undergraduate students, providing them with a unique opportunity to learn from nationally recognized faculty at the school’s Environmental Law Center and Center for Legal Innovation.

The programs, New Frontiers in Environmental Law and Policy and LegalTech Hacktivist Boot Camp, will launch in May.

New Frontiers was developed for the undergraduate student interested in environmental advocacy. The program provides students with an opportunity to develop and implement effective environmental campaigns to challenge the status quo. Students may enroll in one, two or three o​ne-week courses, May 25-June 12.

LegalTech Hacktivist was designed with tech-savvy students in mind, giving undergraduates and current law students interested in legal technology an opportunity to work together to build applications and software solutions for law and policy.​​ Students may enroll for either two or three weeks, May 26-June 12.

“Undergrads do not necessarily have to be interested in a career in law to participate in Vermont Law School’s Hacktivist Boot Camp,” said Jeannette Eicks, managing director of the Center for Legal Innovation. “We welcome any technology-proficient ​students, computer science majors and programmers, to develop tech solutions during this hands-on program—and have those solutions critiqued by law and technology experts.”
