Alecia Rokes, daughter of Beverly and Warren Rokes, and Madeleine Fulkerson, daughter of Susan Fulkerson and Charles Hooker, have been named Green Mountain High School’s valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for 2015. The two were chosen because they have the highest Grade Point Averages in their class.
During high school, Alecia participated in soccer for three years and in student government for two.
In her sophomore year, Alecia was inducted into the National Honor Society and joined the Interact Club, the student arm of Rotary. This year she serves as president of student government, the National Honor Society and Interact.
As a member of these organizations, she has participated in and organized numerous school and community activities including a winter coat and food drives, pep rallies, Interact 5K race and other Rotary events. She has worked winters at Okemo Mountain Resort for the past four years and at Mildred’s Dairy Bar for two summers. Alecia will be attending Lehigh University in Pennsylvania in the fall to study biochemistry and hopes to become a scientific researcher in the future.
Madeleine has been a member of National Honor Society since sophomore year, and this year was elected its vice president. She is also a member of Interact, and participates in many community service activities including coat and food drives.
Outside of school, Madeleine loves to ride her horses and spend time outdoors and with her friends. Madeleine works weekends as a busser at The Grafton Inn. She plans to attend the University of Connecticut in the fall.
Graduation ceremonies take place this Friday June 19 at Green Mountain Union High School, at which time Alecia and Madeleine will speak.
