Goodman’s Pizza, Crown Point Realtors give back to Cavendish

Goodman’s Pizza to donate portion of profits to Cavendish fund

Beginning with the first Cavendish Concert on the Green — at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, the Goodman’s famous wood-fired Pizzamobile will be serving hot, fresh custom ordered pizzas, and donating a portion of the profits to the Cavendish Community Fund. The concerts will be held every Wednesday for seven consecutive weeks and the Pizzamobile will be there each week.

Since its inception in 2007, the Cavendish Community Fund has awarded almost $30,000 in grants to Cavendish cultural and educational events. Every award comes from locally raised monies. This is just one of many fund-raisers that keep the fund growing.

For further information on any aspect of the grant program, call Barbara Dickey at 226-7187. For information on the summer concerts, call Peter LaBelle at 226-7250.

Crown Point Board of Realtors gets grant to refurbish Cavendish lot

The Crown Point Board of Realtors has received a $ 2,200 Placemaking micro-grant from the National Association of Realtors to help make the Cavendish community a better place to live and work by transforming unused public spaces into vibrant community places.

CPBR LOGOThe grant is intended to help Realtor Associations partners with others to plan, organize, implement and maintain placemaking activities in their communities.

Crown Point Board of Realtors will use the funds to turn an empty Cavendish parking lot next to the elementary school into a gathering place for conversation, relaxation and grade school fun. This is intended to create a resurgence in village activity by bringing people together.

The board will partner with the Town of Cavendish on this project. The town will be providing site work. Additional fundraising by the school and volunteerism will also be a part of the project.

“Realtors live, work and volunteer in their communities and take immense pride in working to improve them,” said Crown Point board Vice President Kevin Barnes. “Placemaking can help foster healthier, more social and economically viable communities. It creates places where people feel a strong stake in their neighborhoods and are committed to making things better. This grant will allow us to address areas in our community that are in need of improvement or redevelopment and create a place where friends and neighbors can come together.”
Placemaking grants are awarded to local and state Realtor associations to help them and their members initiate projects in the communities, like turning a parking lot into a farmer’s market or a vacant lot into a playground.
“As our local communities become more attractive and welcoming, nearby properties may also increase in value,” said Barnes.
