act-46-artOn March 7, 2017,  the residents of Chester, Andover, Cavendish, Baltimore, Ludlow and Mt. Holly will likely vote to decide which form a state mandated school consolidation will take for them.

Those decisions could have profound effects on the quality of educational opportunities for their students, the shape of day-to-day issues like commuting between schools and the potential for wide swings in education tax rates — up for some towns and down for others in some cases.

The Two Rivers Supervisory Union is currently holding meetings of its Act 46  Study Committee and on Dec. 14 that group will vote to choose one of four options with which to go forward. Next Tuesday, Nov. 29, the members of the committee will hold a meeting to help residents understand the options and give their thoughts on the choice that the committee will have to make next month.

The meeting will be held at Chester-Andover Elementary School at 72 Main St. in Chester at 6:30 p.m.

The next meeting of the full study committee will be held at Baltimore Town Hall, 1902 Baltimore Road on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. with the decision on which option to put before the voters coming at a 6 p.m. meeting on Wednesday Dec. 14 at Black River High School, 43 Main St. in Ludlow.
