Briefs: Whiting Library raffle; St. Luke’s Annual Tea and Sale; new exhibit at VTica

Local woodworker Albert Williams has donated a cherry wood children’s table and chairs set to the Whiting Library to be raffled off to help meet the library’s year-end budget goals.

It can be seen at the library, located at 117 Main St. in Chester.

Tickets are $5 each and are available at the library, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The winner will be drawn on Dec. 22nd, just in time for holiday giving.

St. Luke’s Annual Christmas Tea and Sale will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Willard Hall, 313 Main St. in Chester. Delicious light sandwiches and scrumptious sweets will cover the tea table where your choices of coffee, tea and hot spiced cider are poured by a hostess.

For only $6, you may fill your plate more than once and join friends at inviting little tables festively decorated to eat and chat. Hostesses will be serving trays of goodies.

Before or after lunch, you also can shop at Grandma’s Attic for collectibles, handmade ornaments and
Christmas decorations made throughout the year by the ladies crafting group. Specially baked goods will be available for purchase at the Bake Table.

There are always pleasant surprises like quilted pieces, painted items, candles and other crafts and art.

Expressions exhibit opening reception Nov. 30

She Vermont Institute of Contemporary Arts, 15 Depot St., is hold a opening reception for its new Expression exhibit, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

The exhibit will feature the works of Vermont artists Blake Larsen, of Essex Junction; Mareva Millarc, of Middletown Springs; Pat Musick, of Manchester Center; Polly Whitcomb, of Springfield; and Johanne Durocher Yordan, of Burlington.

The exhibit includes bronze and alabaster nests, wall sculptures made from found objects and dynamic abstract expressions.

Also, in celebration of VTica’s one year anniversary, members will receive a 15% discount on the purchase of all artwork. This offer is good until the end of the year.
